Since God said, he who blesses Israel will be blessed, the question is then, "Who is Israel?"
Let's look at some verses and try to figure this out.
“They are not all Israel who are descended from Israel…” (Romans 9:6) Not everyone born of Jacob (Israel) is Israel. Seems to be pointing us away from heredity as a primary factor.
"And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise." Galatians 3:29
We are of Abraham if we follow Christ. Some Jews and many gentiles follow Christ.
"Therefore, be sure that it is those who are of faith who are sons of Abraham." Galatians 3:7
Faith is more important than heredity.
"It is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants." Rom 9:8
Definitely has nothing to do with genes or family lineage.
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession...for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God" 1 Peter 2:9–10
All the titles of Israel are now applied to the church.
The Church is the True Israel. If you bless the church you will be blessed.
