The church, as always, is two cultural shifts behind. Most of the church still hasn’t realized that America is in a cultural civil war and the media thinks we Christian’s are the enemy. If we don’t wake up to this fact, a modern day Nero is not inconceivable in the very near future.
Preachers are already going to jail in Canada and the UK for speaking out on sodomite marriage and other moral issues. For example, I may have to move my website as my host may consider my Christian blog as “hate speech”. Churches are having to buy more insurance in case they are sued by the "offended". An atheist just shot up a church in Texas. A Muslim terrorist did the same a month before in Tennessee.
We have lost this generation to political correctness. Words are being redefined. The sacred has been profaned and the profaned has been made sacred.
Since government keeps people from learning life’s lessons, less people need the church. Food pantries are mostly useless as the poor live on EBT Cards and only come around for help from us to pay their electric bills so they can buy drugs.
Some practical things we can do:
Go over every program of your church. Ask questions like, “What is Biblical and what is preference?” “What actually helps and what is not producing any fruit at all?” Have the courage to stop, change, delete, attempt and fail.
If your house was burning down, you would grab only what was important. Figure out what that is and keep only that. What burns down was only a distraction anyway. We must use this cultural arson as an opportunity to purify our spiritual houses.
I believe the next 10 to 20 years will be the testing ground for the church in America to become more Biblical and therefore more effective. We are the transition generation, our children will actually be the ones to reap the harvest; but we have to have the courage to get rid of our spiritual baggage so they can fight the good fight unencumbered.
